Since Don and Katy Kilwin opened the first Kilwins location in 1947, their goal has been to create some of the best sweet confections anywhere in America. What started as a single location has grown over the years. We’re excited for the opportunity to share our delicious chocolates, fudge, toffee, and ice cream with people across the country.

As Kilwins calls more states home, we’ve worked hard to expand our culinary creations as well. Each new product we roll out is made with the same care and commitment as our founders’ first batch of chocolates. To this day, some are even made using the same recipes and cooking tools that Don and Katy first used in their kitchen. You can see old-fashioned cooking techniques like making caramel for our caramel apples in an old-fashioned copper kettle. Then, watch us make fudge by pouring the hot fudge from a copper kettle onto cool marble. Our team members push and pull it as it cools and cut the finished loaves into the slices we know and love.

One of our core beliefs here at Kilwins is to create a store environment that brings a nostalgic feel to life. We want to give our customers the chance to taste what it was like to step into an old-fashioned chocolate shop, just like the very first customers did in 1947. Kilwins built its name by making and selling chocolates, but we’ve grown to offer so much more at our Uptown Columbus ice cream store (and other nationwide locations). Kilwins’ biggest expansion came in 1985 when ice cream was first added to the menu. Like our chocolates and fudge, we only use the best ingredients to make our cold confections. From there, we add delicious inclusions like rich chocolates, buttery caramel, fruit pieces, nuts, and more. 

While we started with a few flavors, we’ve massively increased the flavors we sell year-round at our Uptown Columbus ice cream store. Our confectioners continue to innovate and experiment with limited-time and holiday-themed flavors for you to enjoy during various seasons.

As part of our ongoing commitment to quality, we take special care at every step of the process, from initial creation of the ice cream to shipping it across the country. We have a fleet of temperature-controlled trucks that we use to ship our ice cream to each of our locations across the United States to help protect and maintain its consistency.
