Don and Katy Kilwin founded Kilwins in the 1940s. They set out to make their neighbors in Petoskey, Michigan, smile by creating the best chocolates possible. We are proud that the Kilwins’ recipes still bring people joy more than 70 years later. We believe in putting in the extra effort it takes to achieve excellence. We source the finest ingredients to guarantee the finest taste. 

Like our founders did back in the 1940s, we cook caramel in a traditional copper kettle. That caramel goes on to form our caramel chews and chocolate-covered caramels. It also goes in our brittle, caramel corn, and we dip Granny Smith apples in this mixture to make caramel apples.

In another celebration of tradition, we handcraft our Mackinac Island Fudge in the store on a marble slab, just like Don Kilwin used to do. (Don’t forget to ask one of our friendly team members at the Evanston chocolate store for a sample.)
